About Soul Food Dinner 2014
The annual Soul Food Dinner raises awareness of the African American experience from both a contemporary and historical perspective. Students, faculty and staff from the campus community, friends and community members are invited to celebrate the gifts of African Americans in scholarship, music and food.
About the Keynote Speaker
Nelson Bowman III is the executive director of development at Prairie View A&M University. As the chief development officer, he is responsible for managing major gift prospects, donor stewardship initiatives and the University's internal school-based fundraising program. In 2009, he oversaw the successful completion of the University's first capital campaign of $30 million.
Bowman's proficiency lies in historically black colleges and universities, minority serving institutions, engaging diverse cultures and academic fundraising. He is also the co-author of three book - Unearthing Promise and Potential: Our Nation's Historically Black Colleges and Universities - A Guide to Fundraising at Historically Black College and University: An All Campus Approach and, Engaging Diverse College Alumni: The Essential Guide to Fundraising.
